Karnataka Expands Industrial Footprint with New Factory Spaces and Textile Parks in Northern Region
The Karnataka government has announced significant industrial initiatives aimed at bolstering the economic landscape of the state’s northern region. Chief Minister Siddaramaiah unveiled plans to establish ready-to-use factory spaces for the electronics sector and develop textile parks in this area on September 17. The announcement was made during the Kalyana Karnataka Day celebrations, marking the 10th anniversary of the Hyderabad-Karnataka region's special status.
In a notable move, a new flat-floor factory in Kalaburagi will cater to the electronics industry, providing ready-to-use spaces for entrepreneurs. "This initiative will not only create job opportunities but also mark the beginning of electronics manufacturing in Kalyana Karnataka," Siddaramaiah stated. The project is expected to spur economic growth and establish a strong industrial base in the region.
Further enhancing the region's industrial capabilities, the Chief Minister revealed plans for a textile park in Raichur. Additionally, a mega textile park is being set up on 1,000 acres near Honnakiranagi-Nadi Sinnur in Kalaburagi through a public-private partnership involving the central government. An investment of Rs 50 crore has been allocated for infrastructure development, aiming to generate approximately one lakh direct and two lakh indirect jobs.
Siddaramaiah also introduced the Udyoga Aavishkaara scheme, designed to boost employment through skill development. "We are investing Rs 10 crore in this scheme, with about 25,000 young people receiving training through the Centre for Development of Advanced Computing (C-DAC) and the Industry Linkage Cell," he noted.
In addition, the government is setting up multi-skill development centers in Kalaburagi and Talakal in Koppal, each with a budget of Rs 60 crore. These centers will focus on providing employment-oriented skills to the local workforce.
An advanced incubation and skill center is also planned for Kalaburagi, spearheaded by the Information Technology and Biotechnology departments. This center will support innovation and nurture skilled professionals and entrepreneurs, contributing to the transformation of Kalaburagi into a hub of excellence and opportunity through K-Tech.
Overall, these initiatives underscore Karnataka's commitment to fostering industrial growth and job creation in its northern region, aiming to drive regional development and economic prosperity.
